Nine public housing agencies resourced for testing and mitigation
The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded $4 million to nine public housing programs for radon testing and mitigation in 1,000 housing units. Radon is a dangerous, odorless gas that is the number one cause of lung cancer in non-smokers. Radon occurs in the soil and is naturally released into the air in small quantities, but if a foundation is cracked or broken, it can seep into homes and get trapped inside of them.
“This radon grant program broadens HUD’s environmental interventions in the home,” said Matthew Ammon, Director of the Office of Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes. “The program also underscores the importance of our partnership with PHAs to reduce radon concentrations indoors, thereby reducing the risks of radon-induced lung cancer.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Fudge to seek God’s direction as she oversees HUD.
- For wisdom for federal housing authorities as they fund radon testing and mitigation.
